The Ledge is the Ministry center of the Rock Church. The Ledge is a public space to embody the identities of who we are:
OUR IDENTITY AS BELIEVERS
Called
We are all called by God. He knows us by name and has a plan and a purpose for our lives. He calls us to stop trying to fix ourselves and our lives, and to submit to Him. He knows how to fix our problems, find meaning and purpose to our lives and save us from the restless pursuits we chase to try and make everything better. Jesus calls us to that rest in the book of Matthew where He says:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”
LOVED
We all want to be truly loved. But we often think we need to fix ourselves to be loved, or we are not worth being loved. But neither of these are true. Regardless of what we have done, how we think of ourselves, or what others think of us, the love we desire is available to us right now. Not only that, but the way God loves us is far beyond what most of us think love looks like. God loves us in this way:
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”
FOUNd
We find a new vision of life when we hear the calling of God, recognizing the love that God has for us without us having to fix ourselves or earn it! And, when we accept His love, surrender all of our ways that we are trying to work for it, and trust in Him, He has found us - we are saved! This changes everything. We who are Christians have all been found by God and transformed by His love, because He called us to follow Him. This is the beginning of a new life
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing...
For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate”
OUR IDENTITY TOGETHER
Community & Family
All humans have a desire for being committed and connected to people in relationships. Those that have committed to following God’s way of life become a new type of community and family. When we are transformed by Gods love, it transforms our relationships to everyone. We see what this looked in the book of Acts:
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common.”
OUR MISSION
Sent to Call, love, and find
Our journey with God doesn’t end with ourselves! Part of our calling from God is to show and help other people find His love. We all want the hope of this good news to reach and help everyone else - to welcome them into this community and family. That means we are all called to share the love of Jesus and find those who are open to the message of Jesus Christ.
“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”
Our Mission as the Ledge
Taking inspiration from the words of 1 Peter, we have created the Ledge as a public space to embody that way of living life. The Ledge invites people into that conversation and shows what the transformation of our lives as a result of this good news. The Mission Sof the Ledge is:
“The Ledge exists as a ministry of The Rock Church to make Jesus known. We do this through loving people by practicing extraordinary hospitality in every activity and event.”
